I'm supposed to be on an airplane right now flying across the Atlantic. Flight CO24 out of Newark at 7:30pm.
But instead, I am sitting at home in New Jersey. The airport has been closed since 10 last night because of Hurricane Irene (well I guess now it's just tropical storm Irene, I really can't keep track) and my flight was cancelled. I then found out that continental does not reschedule cancelled flights... That was just great news to hear. I have never seen flight prices jump so fast. One minute a ticket was around $600 and a half hour later, it was $3,700. Crazy! so I now have a flight Tuesday night to get into Limerick just in time for my very much needed orientation.
Out of all the delays I thought possible for this trip, a hurricane hitting New England was definitely not what I expected. God has a really funny sense of humor sometimes. The last time I remember a hurricane in NJ causing actual damage was Floyd, and that was over ten years ago.
So once again, still waiting to leave but blessed with two more days to prepare at home.
Can't wait for Tuesday!
